Dear All,

Here are some of my shots from recent diving trips. All (constructive!) criticism appreciated!

Great pictures! Were you on a livaboard, or land based? I am going there in September - I can't wait!
Manta picture is my favourite.

I stayed at hotels both times. The Mantas are in the North Male Atoll - at a well-known cleaning station (cant remember the name) in about 6m of water depth. We went both snorkelling and diving there, it was amazing. Most of the macro shots are in the North Ari Atoll. Neither was a dedicated photo-trip (one was my honeymoon!), so I needed to balance my time under and over the water!! :drink:

p.s. where are you going in Sept?

Dear Gustav.

Looks like you had a good time in the Maldives, I especially like the manta-shot and the black and yellow nudiebranch.

If I was to give any pointers, I would say that you should try to get lower, and possibly to get some more blue behind your subjects. The frogfish photo is nice, but imagine if you didn't have that cluttered background, then that gorgeous red frogfish would really stand out, maybe consider using a snoot for shots like that? Of course I realize that this is not always possible without damaging the reef which is, in my opinion far more important than getting that special photo. Also I think you could crank down the color-temperature a little, especially when you have lots of red & orange sponges.

On a last note, the photo where you have the little nudiebranch in your hand/your dive-guides hand, unless the little thing actually swam up on your hand (which i doubt) then I think you should consider wether this is appropriate to do and to upload on a forum where conservation has as a rather high priority.

Hope you can use my advice, I mean, who am I to judge.
Best regards, Morten
