I am curious because it looks to me like S&S got the high GN (I know those numbers are not usually meaningful anyway) by using a fairly narrow beam angle and by the time one puts diffusers on to approximate the angle of, say, a Z-240, I don't know that the D1 is any more powerful than that strobe. But it may be...
Just speculating and curious. Time will tell.

I have a pair and so far so good. They are powerful recycle quick and really small.

Duration slightly less, angle narrower, but damn close to the ys-250 on the histogram.Take a look at this comparative test:
