I have a book from 2003 with this one in it which is undescribed. Synchiropus sp. with the same eye markings, the appendage above the eye (which I have never noticed in other Dragonet species) marbling, etc...of course they are going to be very variable depending on the location, time of day, what they eat...etc....

I think I took pictures of the same one or in the same area and if it was the same dive, I thought it was odd the male was so brightly "lit up" for the middle of the day.
