Wetpixel will be hosting its first Google+ live video hangout on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm BST. Joining us on the hangout will be Eric Cheng, Adam Hanlon, Alex Mustard, Berkley White (Backscatter), and Ryan Canon (Reef Photo & Video). We'll chat about exciting new camera gear that photographers are using underwater (some of which we are in the process of reviewing), and get everyone's opinions about the hottest dive destinations of 2012.

Check the front page of Wetpixel at 9am PST on June 5, and you'll see a link to the live broadcast, as well as a place where you can ask questions in real-time. Questions will be pulled from the comment stream on the hangout page, so you'll need to be logged into your Google+ account. See you on Tuesday!

Super cool! However a suggestion: would it be possible to do a future hangout on a weekend? Obviously, we Wetpixelites are scattered around the globe in different timezones so someone will always be "at work" no matter what time of the day you schedule it for, but perhaps on the weekend you could maximize participation. I'd love to join this one, but probably can't since it is "on work hours".

Marjo - the hangout will be archived, so you can watch it any day of the week.

I have worked as an unpaid reviewer for the editing websites since 2002. Any suggestions I make regarding products are a result of my own, completely, personal opinions and experiences with said products.

To prepare for the hangout, head on over to your Google+ account and install the Google voice and video plugin. Having a Google+ account and installing the plugin will ensure that you don't miss the beginning of the Hangout; you can watch in the G+ environment and ask questions using the comment stream.

If you're interested in watching but don't want to register for Google+, there will also be a live YouTube video stream you can watch. We'll post the link here when the Hangout starts.

Thanks for the feedback—I know this one isn't ideal for working folks near North America. Given that Adam Hanlon and Alex Mustard are in London, we've chosen to do this first one at the end of their business day this time. The second reason is that I'm getting on a plane a couple hours after the scheduled hangout. In the future, we'll likely schedule these for sometime in the evening PST / EST (e.g., 6pm/9pm or 7pm/10pm).

I got up at 3:30am to do a hangout from Italy, once. We had folks all over the world on that one. :)

The Hangout was a blast :)

If you missed it, here it is on YouTube:

Thanks to Alex, here are some timing highlights:

05:30 - Nikon D800 (inc. dynamic range)
26:42 - Canon 5D Mk3 (plus lots of vid SLR tips)
43:50 - Mirror-less cameras (OM-D E-M5 and more)
48:42 - Alex’s OM housing!
59:02 - GoPro (why diving is now cool)
1:03:33 - Inon Strobe Warming Diffusers (exclusive!)
1:06:25 - External Monitors for DSLRs and mirror-less
1:15:56 - Sea & Sea D1 strobe
1:20:13 - And finally some pictures

I'm fairly confident that we will be doing more soon.

Many thanks to Alex, Ryan and Berkley for giving up their valuable time and to Eric for setting it all up.
