My husband has recenly purchased a canon 550d from his Olympus E330 & he went for an aquatica housing. For travelling he thought that 2 inon S2000's would be ideal & connected using fibre optic. The first trip out the strobe power seemed very erratic one minute you would burn out & the next the picture would be very dark. We could not get a picture on ISO 100 but could manage on ISO 400? We thought it must be something simple like camera settings or the magents so we went to see a local knowlegable inon dealer who spent a couple of hours & was stumped as to what it could be. We are using a canon 60mm macro lens with the aquatica low profile macro port. Has anyone had any experince/problems or sucesses with this set up as it would be really great to get it sorted out.

I shoot with the 7D and 2 S2000 strobes some of the time. Set the camera up in manual mode, 1/125 sec and f:11 and set the 550D to ETTL mode in the strobe setting. Start with one Inon strobe connected via fiber and in STTL mode (the magnet doesn't matter in STTL) and see how that goes. THen add the second strobe; should be fine.

Thanks to Bill & G for repying. We are using manual selection on the camera but on the internal flash settings e ttl is greyed out & you cant select it? I have tryed switching modes & it is greyed out in all of them, i have popped up the flash to se if this makes & difference to but still greyed out?

That somehow makes no sense. The flash menu should allow for ettlII, manual, multi etc. Something weird is going on. Are you sure you are in M mode on the camera?

Silly question, but do you have exposure bracketing enabled? If so, that would lead to uneven exposures unless you were shooting in groups of 3 shots.

We are definitely in manual mode & not set for exposure bracketing. Still cant fathom it out?? I know the combination works & someone has tested the flashes & there is nothing wrong with them but we have recently tested it with a sea & sea 110 & epoque 230 & these will not fire.

With the camera out of the housing, can you make it do TTL flash? That is the big question.
