We've got a great spot right here in metro LA that's been referred to as California's version of muck diving. I think that's a great description as the place is mainly a shallow sandy area that then slopes down to a deeper (and somewhat muckier) canyon. The place is called Veterans Park in Redondo Beach and is just south of the Redondo Pier. It's a big training site (easy access, ample aprking, etc.) on the weekends. It can be a boring daytime dive but it really comes alive at night. And this past Wednesday evening, we had a simply fantatsic dive. The place was crawling with life.
