I decided to release my 116-minute documentary about the marine life of Thailand and Burma in its entirety on YouTube.

This was a real labour of love for me, and represents a pretty big chunk of my life, so I thought I'd give it its own thread rather than tacking it to the end of my thread about the series. I hope that's OK.

Feel free to share and embed it anywhere.

It looks best at 720p, and there are a number of closed caption options under the CC button including the names of all the species and dive sites.

As a proud owner of the 'original DVD version' (wow that sounds a bit retro eh??) I can honestly say that watching 'Reef Life' inspired me hugely when I was first finding my fins filming underwater. Huge congrats Nick. Very well done indeed! :)

Cheers, Simon

Great work Nick, what a massive effort. I think you did a great job on the voice over, not an easy thing to do well. Congrats

A beautiful production Nick, great narration also....I linked it in FB.
Very charitable of you to put it up on utube, might get more people interested in marine environment.

Thanks everyone :)

Jonny, I was thinking seriously about getting a professional voiceover done but it gets expensive for a 2 hour job, and I envisaged a number of re-takes because of the amount of "technical" content. In hindsight it would have been nice to alternate a female voice with mine, as I know it gets a bit much after a while.

Wags, the upload took about 30 hours. It was 10.2GB. The video was a scheduled upload, and unfortunately it went live when YouTube was having a bit of a glitch, and it never reached my subscribers' feeds. So after a very slow 50 views I deleted it and uploaded the whole thing again, for another 30 hours!

Got a big archive of 16:9 HDV from the Andaman Sea already, which will find its way out in various projects, but I don't think I'll release anything on this scale again.
