Stayed at Magic Island (it is not an island BTW) for two weeks this month. Beautiful, quiet, superbly run resort. Staff wonderful always laughing and nothing too much trouble.. Great food and plenty of it. Nice bar and the G & T's are cheap! Well organised dive centre on site. I cannot speak highly enough about it. Mostly European divers of many nationalities but no language problems. They don't take Koreans, Japanese or Russian divers.
Lots of other dive centres close by and the reefs are pretty well dived
Boats are pangas with outriggers; no loos. Basic; but great boatman. Most dive sites are very similar with a steep slope and clouds of small fish. No big - or even medium size fish. The locals subsistance fish all along the reef in tiny pangas all day and I guess they have cleared all the worthwhile stuff out. Good house reef with easy access - again small stuff but I then I enjoy scrounging about for little critters. Nearby Pescador Island is different and very scenic with beautiful, vertical walls. A few distant barracuda and tuna.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info Jim. I'll be staying there for a couple of nights on a FAM trip at the first of March and was just wondering what to expect.

I was in Moalboal this past June, sad to say, quality of diving there is below that of other areas of the Philippines. Pescador is by far the best diving in MB.
