Hey,
I just bought a used Ikelite setup for a Canon 7D and 2 Ike DS161 strobes were included with that.
Since I never owned one of these strobes or an underwater housing I had the following question:
When I turn the strobe on it makes a little sound for about 4 seconds. It almost sounds like a start up sound but I was just wondering if that is normal or I should sent it to Ikelite for diagnostics.
Many thanks
Ikelite DS 161

Yes, that's normal. Its the inverter working hard charging the empty capacitor. You can also hear it after a powerful flash.

Assuming you are referring to a high-pitched whine...
If you are hearing a clunk, bang or the sound of running water, that's another issue...
