Hi everyone,

I just had the pleasure of spending a two weeks in Bali, and two weeks in Sumatra.
Sumatra was mostly to see the jungle, but I also did some diving in Pulau Weh (or Sabang, )on the northern tip of Sumatra.

Sony RX100 was used with Nauticam housing, 2x INON S2000, INON macro wet lenses and FIX UWL-04 wide angle lens.

It says it at the beginning Inon most likely one or two stacked UCL165, I have used the same for video and they do a fine job
The RX100 does need a lot of magnification as the capture area is very large

I was thinking of buying a new setup based around the RX100 but having read some of the issues with macro, I be best housing my d7000 instead...

There are no issues with macro if you have a diopter actually it is razor sharp as the pictures here show
if you don't have a diopter the camera by itself struggles with focus

Hey Xander, love these shots. I'm blown away by the quality from such a tiny camera.

Based on your sucess and others' input I've just invested in an RX100, Nauticam housing, Sea&Sea YS-d1 Strobe, and x5 diopter for close ups.

Question: do you ever use a salmon 'red' filter? I assume that with a strobe, or video lights in the foreground you don't really need one; am I correct? I am so used to shooting video with a filter so I'm not sure if I need one with the RX100. If you do use one, which brand?

Also, although I have invested in a x5 diopter, I am thinking that I'll need a wide angle wet lens too. Did you use one a) a lot b) a little c) all the time ? Which do you recommend, or are they all pretty much the same?

I have used filters to shoot video as per here using Ikelite push up filter on a wide angle lens


For stills you don't need a filter as the camera shoots RAW and you can white balance later.
For video you need to white balance the RX100 has got fine white balance settings but they are a pain to access as per my post

Wide angle wise you definitely need one as 28mm without a dome become less than 55 field of view, nauticam recommends the Inon UWL-H100 you can get this lens with a 67mm thread or with an Inon bayonet mount, Nauticam sells this adapter too. Due to the number of changes of wet lenses in water that the macro shots require I would definitely recommend you get a bayonet mount. If your diopter is an M67 there is an adapter M67-LD
If you want to stick to M67 mount the UWL-04 that the op has here is a fine lens or also the fix uwl28m52

NickJ and Swgdesign: I used two stacked UCL165 macro lenses.
I have never used a (red) filter, maybe something for the future.
I use my wide angle lens a lot, the UWL-04 works very well. There are very good reports and reviews online about lens options, on wetpixel (http://wetpixel.com/...php?showforum=1) , blue water photo store: http://www.bluewater...-wet-lens-tests , and on other sites you can find with a google search.

I'm starting to think that red filters may be a thing of the past. I dont think the WB options on the RX100 are difficult to get to (using the 'menu' way yes, but 'function key' is fast imho)
