As the topic title stated I'm looking to do a dive trip to the Philippines with very nice accomodations. I have done Club Ocelaris in Anilao and I like it, but my wife just wouldn't tolerate the spartan lodging. I'm looking for a venue that can keep us both happy.

We stayed at the Out of the Blue villas in Puerto Galera: http://www.outoftheb... The diving there was very good (maybe not as good as Anilao, from what I hear, but still very good). Here is my gallery from the trip (most of the macro is from Puerto Galera):

We LOVED Out of the Blue. I think we paid $180 USD / night for a 2 bedroom penthouse with a 1000 sq ft private terrace where we enjoyed $10/hr private massages every day after diving. Check them out on TripAdvisor -- they probably have the best reviews of any place I've seen. We stayed in Villa 10; however it doesn't look that one is listed on there website right now (they mentioned they were doing re-modeling, so that may be it). The villas numbered above 10 are brand new and were under construction when we were there, so they should be very nice. Here is a photo of our view:

Larry,

Are you looking for Anilao again or elsewhere? Anilao, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Dive Solana (www.divesolana.com) much nicer than Club O. Diving in Puerto is very similar to Anilao but Portofino is pretty nice in PG. Just make sure you stay away from Sabang Beach and you'll be OK. In Dumaguete, Atmosphere Resort is very nice. Was in Moalboal last June, but diving was just so so so but Turtle Bay Resort was pretty good though they do nickel and dime you to death.

In Anilao: Solana is indeed very nice, El Pinoy is recently refurbished and has a small pool, and Eagle Point could make the list for its stand-alone villa rooms at the far end plus a very nice pool.

In Dumaguete, I highly recommend Antulang Resort, which has real villas with private courtyards including either a pool or spa. The nearby diving is OK but best diving there is Apo Island (a drawback is that you have to drive 45 minutes to the boat ramp that goes over there)

In Bohol, Hennan Resort (the former Alona Palm) also has deluxe villas and a great restaurant, plus the best beach I have been to in the Philippines. Diving can be variable there however

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not looking at only Aniloa. perhaps something with better general diving would be better. Aniloa has some pretty reefs but many of the sites that I visited were macro specific.

Hi

You should try Ocean Vida at Malapascua (http://www.ocean-vida.com)

The accommodations are quite nice, with a beautifull beach at front and the dive with the thresher sharks is amazing!

I have been there with a group of 11 friends last year and has been a fantastic diving holidays.

It is a great dive resort

Acacia is indeed very nice for photographers, as it is very well managed and set up with camera tables and lockers. It also has a pool (a rarity in Anilao) and a very pleasant deck and decent food. However the rooms are tiny (though modern and good quality) so you may want to check if that is important to a non-diving partner
