Hi,

Does anyone know what kind of cells are in the newer Li-Ion DS-125 packs?

I've specs say 7.4v 4500mah, so we've talking some for of 2S configuration with a PCM. The biggest question is whether the internal electronics a have changed.

I've got a couple of packs that are dead, and I figure I may as well fill them with lithium over nimh.

Ikelite also changed the charging connector so that older chargers will not damage their li-ion cell battery packs.

Some good news:  the new Ikelite charger for li-ion battery packs is $20 less than the previous NiMH charger.

Thanks Alan. That makes sense, though I thought I heard the chargers were the same so suspected some change in the internal circuit. If the charger is different, it might just be as simple as filling it with lithium cells and a PCM.

I am currently using the new Ikelite Li-Ion packs.  There is a need for a new charger with these packs.  So far I have found that the battery packs themselves are fraction lighter than the older NiMH and they give you twice as many shots as the Nimh would and slightly faster recycle time .  The only down side to the Li-Ion packs is they take longer to charge compared to the NiMH. I think I saw somewhere that they take 5 hours to charge from empty.
