I recently returned from an extended weekend trip to San Carlos, Sonora. The trip provided an opportunity for me to use my housed Nikon D7100 system for the first time. Needless to say, there's a huge learning curve for a newbie with a housed digital SLR with two strobes. My photographs weren't great, but I got some decent ones and it wasn't a bad start.

Hi Tinman,

Hey I think you are being a bit hard on yourself...there is nothing wrong with ur photos for first attempts....and you are right....there is a big learning curve but you are off to a lovely start so well done.:-)

Nice shot of the angelfish on the black background.

Shooting fish well is hard and takes practice.....and trust me...you'll take alot worse!!

Keep shooting and enjoy learning

Tinman,

Who did you go out with and how did you like the operation?

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

I've been traveling (usually do the caravan thing) to San Carlos with Desert Divers out of Tucson. They are associated with Ocean Sports in San Carlos and both ops are well-organized. Their boat is a comfortable ride out to Isla San Pedro Nolasco. The owner of Desert Divers has been leading and hosting trips to San Carlos for a long, long time. I've enjoyed traveling and diving with them.

Great to hear, I travel with the other shop in Tucson (The Dive Shop).  My son worked out of there as a dive instructor.  I haven't been back down to San Carlos for a few years but plan to go for a long Labor Day Weekend the end of Aug.  I'm glad the new rig is working out for you.  Maybe we'll run into each other at a Cantina in San Carlos.

Cheers,

Steve

Yeah, I know several people who travel with other Tucson dive shops and I've never heard any major complaints about any of the ops.
