Snoot techniques

I've tried some photography with a snoot and like the results. The problem is that I've had to have someone aim the snoot for me. Is there a way to use a snoot without help?
Canon 5D mk2, Ikelite housing, Ikelite 125 strobes, 17-40 mm 4.0 L, 100 mm, 24-150 mm L, 100-400 mm 5.6 L

lots of people discuss using it with a tripod. another option that has gained popularity is the fibersnoot
