I thought I would ask Atomos, if they are keeping in mind their existing users of the Ninja2 when they develop the Ninja3 (or whatever it will be called) for 4k and future developments.

My main question was in regards to form factor and button layout.

The answer.... 'Sorry but most likely not'

So, if you are thinking of getting the NA-NINJA or the DiveandSee housing for a Ninja2 - hoping the 4k version will be supported - we are out of luck!

is not different from buying a new camera and dedicated housing today, but tomorrow or 1-2 years later comes a newer camera....

That is a shame. A Ninja 3 that can record 4K would be nice but it needs a better screen.

Well the NINJA1 is similar in form factor etc to the NINJA2, so I was holding a little hope!

But I agree, we can't expect 'free' upgrades year on year.

Have Atomos announced that they'll be developing a Ninja 3? Or was this a fishing trip to see what may be coming through?

Literately in the last few minutes..!!!!

Looks like the same form factor - but high resolution screen - but much smaller buttons - so the buttons in the NA-NINJA2 won't work.

Apart from a much better screen, seems very little else to the upgrade.
Big price difference though.
It's a shame it's not 4K capable.
That screen looks pretty nice & should be a big step up from the ninja 2 screen.

Yeah I was a little disappointed - no 4k. And after reviewing the specs. Apart from the screen and new Atomos OS5 update it doesn't actually do much more.

I saw it today at BVE, definitely a different size than the Ninja 2...

It's the same size as the Samurai Blade from reading all the reviews etc.

I bet that screen is nice!

I didn't bother looking to closely, whilst the screen is a lot nicer than the ninja 2, the recorder functionality is still quite limited (by today's standards), so not enough reason for me to consider upgrading.

Still, it will be a good option for underwater use for anyone buying fresh.... Once people get a housing out for it...

It's quite similar, I will not upgrade, just waiting for 4K with Sony.
