Hello fellow Wetpixellers,

Over the last few years I have purchased 3 Sola 2000 lights. Over the course of these 2 years, they have all failed for the same reason, the switch. Now the third one has died and I'm unable to get them repaired here.

After getting no help from the L&M support online I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what was done about it.

I would like them repaired. After all they are $700+ each and should have lasted more than 50 dives or so.

Is there a way to bypass the switch. I was assuming it was magnetically activated but I might be wrong.

Any feed back would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I've had similar problems with my Sola 4000 lights. Contacting support has worked, but can take some time. Eventually they have been very helpful. I've PM'd you.

Are you sure that the lights can't be fixed by generating a pulse across the charging contacts with the charger? There's a glitch that can be fixed by mimicking a TTL pulse...

Thanks for the feedback.

The lights charge no problem after a quick pulse across the contacts but have problems switching on, sometimes they do sometimes not, sometimes they will turn on but not off. No good for me. I've sent a mail to the address you gave in your PM Liquid Guru.

Let's hope this more direct approach works.

Cheers

I have the same issue with a sola 4000. I am very frustrated. I sent them back to backscatter, who I bought it from. This is the 4th time I have sent it in.. I just want a replacement...very frustrated.

To update...I am about to go on a trip in a couple of days.  And I pulled out my sola's and yet again, the same 4000 that I have trouble with wouldn't turn on, despite being fully charged.. This would be my 4th time sending it in.  Well...L & M gave me a new light.  Even though it was past warranty - the original problem happened before the warranty.  So they did the right thing, and am happy to say, at this point, I am satisfied with the outcome.  It is nice when a company does the right thing.  Hopefully I have the same luck as my other 4 sola lights I own which have worked flawlessly.   Also, Backscatter was instrumental in getting this accomplished for me.  So kudos to them as well.  They are great! and a pleasure to work with.
