Olympus Japan has announced a new version of the 40x0 series camera, the D-4100ZOOM.
It has a 3X zoom lens with 2.8 aperture, a 4.0 Megapixel camera, and the selling point for underwater photography is the Super Macro function which allows photography as close as 2 centimeters.
You will be able to use this camera with the PT-010 housing.

Whats difference with the C-4000? The specs you show are identical to the 4000.
The supermacro function on the 4000 turns off the flash because the flash is obscured by the lens at 2cm. If so, you cannot use slave flash.

Sure, here it is. I am not sure if it is exactly the same as the D-4000ZOOM.
Most of the time, they do not change the model numbers except for the P&S models.

It seems like its identical to the 4000. Since the web site doesn't list a 4000, maybe OLY is using different numbers in different markets, or the Japanese language is denoted the 4100 and the english is the 4000.

C41000Z and the C4000Z is the same identical camera. Just a different model number.

Thats interesting since they haven't done that on earlier models. But I see no difference in specs.

This is very interesting because it looks like a departure to their previous policy of using the same model numbers for the C series cameras (the P&S models had different names).

Is this true? Seems to me that if it is it would make the 4000 a non starter. What am I missing?

Still works in macro mode. Still works with add-on macro lens.
Basically its a useless function underwater unless you have the tetra housing and can use a hardwired flash. That does work in supermacro mode.
That doesn't make the camera a non-starter. You have a 4 Mpixel C-3020 for $450.00. Not bad.
