I'm shooting with a CoolPix 990, the internal flash turned off, and I'm curious what the "synch" speed is when I'm using a Sea&Sea YS120 strobe. I'm getting tired of taking my chances with TTL.
"synch" speed for CoolPix 990

Have a look at my Strobe Test Page at:

Oddly enough, the strobe will synch at "insane" speeds because the digital "shutter" is not the same as a curtain on a NikV for example - or any other film camera.

It will sync at any speed. This can be used to isolate the background (black background) if used in completely manual mode. Set shutter to 1/1000, aper to f11 and force flash.
