Well ok the metal body doesn't help underwater. But some who are interested in pole cams or certain housing designs would like to see a wired release.

I would like a wired release and mirror lock-up for long range wildlife photography--but I will live without it.

Looks like the viewfinder will be significantly bigger than the D70 which will make it nice UW...

And also looks pretty sweet with a 17-55 on it.

Nice photos, the first time I see these. It really seems that the viewfinder is a big improvement over the D70, but it looks too small behind the 17-55!

Here we go again... More leaks, this time from Nital (Nikon's distributer in Italy).

Perhaps someone with better Italian can nut out some of the details.

Looks like the viewfinder is 0.94x and 95% - which is a fair bit nicer than the D70 (0.75x). I think the D2X is actually 0.86x, but 100%. Not sure how this will affect the usability.

Also the AF has 11 areas with 7 "wide area" sensors. Not sure whether they are cross or T-type sensors. Anyone able to translate better than me? I think the D200 has the same AF modes as the D2X and therefore should let you group sensors.

Also appears to have optional support for wifi and GPS and in-camera black and white (fancy!)

I would like to see just how they make the 11 sensors work. If they are anything like Canon's, they will be more a pain than pleasure unless you can quickly select the definitive area, like you can now with the current models.

They also mention Nikon Capture 4 (version 4.4) in the release. The current version of NC is 4.3.2

In those specs you'll find reference to a CAM 1000 AF module. This is a little bit of a letdown for me since I was hoping the D200 would have the CAM 2000 or at least the CAM 1300. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the performance is.

Yes, it is CAM1000 with one cross type sensor and 10 line sensors. The sensor coverage will be 1/2 as much as with the D2x.

Nothing new, just confirmation of the previously posted specs, but it is nice to see the samples (even in the PDF).

P.S.: Sorry, no english PDF! The final two letters of the file indicate language. For example, D200_24pg_FINAL_ES.pdf is for the PDF in Spanish with sample photos taken in Argentina. I don't know if the other PDFs have different samples, my connection is too slow and the PDFs are 4mb!

I have the feeling that we will see an official announcement in the next 24 hours.

They need to keep the cost low too! This is supposed to be a semi-pro camera.
