#371690 Quick trip to Cozumel

Posted by edpdiver on 19 March 2016 - 07:33 AM

I went to Cozumel to meet up with an old friend I have not seen in years, and he just started diving again recently. We stayed at Casa Mexicana, and the trip was set up by the dive shop, Tres Pelicanos. The dive operation was very good, and not too expensive. The hotel was fine, although there was some construction going on in the lobby, which bothered some guests whose rooms were closer to the noise. We just dove for three days, and it was excellent. Water was a little choppy at the surface, but other than that, conditions were excellent.

Just finished 12 days of diving while staying at Sau Bay in Fiji, diving the Somosomo Straits. The diving was wonderful, and here are a few photos from the trip.

#366603 some photos from Scuba Seraya diving in Bali

Posted by edpdiver on 29 October 2015 - 04:02 AM

Hello all. I recently returned from a my first diving trip off of Bali. My wife and I stayed at the Scuba Seraya resort, near Tulamben. I used a Nikon D7000 in a Nauticam housing, with dual Inon Z240 strobes. Most of the photography was macro, and I used a Nikkor 85mm lens for those. All of the wide angle shots were taken with a Tokina 10-17mm zoom. Here are some of the shots.

#344878 Some Fiji pics from the Somosomo Strait

Posted by edpdiver on 23 March 2014 - 11:29 AM

Hello, it has been a while since I have posted, so I thought I would put up a few pics from a recent trip to Fiji. My wife and I went for 10 nights and stayed at the Sau Bay Resort, which was great. Our dive guide, Pio, was fantastic at timing our dives so that the soft corals were open, but the currents were not too much work. It really made the diving and photography fun. The resort is fairly new (about 1 1/2 years old), and I hightly recommend it. Here are some of the pics.

#326892 Raja Ampat trip photos from a Seven Seas liveaboard trip

Posted by edpdiver on 28 February 2013 - 04:59 AM

My wife and I took a 14 night trip on the Seven Seas through Raja Ampat. It was our third trip to Raja Ampat, and the diving was excellent, as was the boat. The crew on the Seven Seas was uniformly good. The dive guides were helpful and knowledgeable, and the rest of the crew were also good at their jobs. There were 14 passengers on our trip, 12 divers, and surprisingly, 2 snorkelers (who also had a great time). The boat was comfortable and the food was very good. I would strongly recommend going on this boat. We did three or four dives per day, which is less than some liveaboards, but just right for me. Basically, the schedule alternated with eat, dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, etc., starting with a pre-breakfast between 6 and 7:30am and the first dive typically starting at 7:45am. One bit of interesting information that we learned is that this is the last season (for the time being) that the boat is going to cruise Raja Ampat. They feel, justifiably, that the region is getting crowded with liveaboards, so they are going to substitute a new dive region into their plans starting next year. Specifically, they will dive the South Komodo region, and they are confident it will be a great area to dive, with aspects similar to Raja Ampat diving. Should be interesting.

This is my second post. I like getting such expert advice on my first entry, so I thought I would try again. Comments are appreciated. It was taken at the Wakatobi resort in Indonesia. The camera was a Nikon D200 with a Sigma Subal 18-55 lens in a Subal housing, with an Ikelite DS125 strobe was used.
