Topics I've Started

06 December 2009 - 12:01 PM

I dont get travel abroad and take pictures as much as i like to (family, work, money etc), but i am planing a trip to the Red Sea next October.

I am looking for a very underwater photography friendly holiday, not that keen on walls or deep diving for obvious reasons.

Ideally i would like to get my elbows in the sand and get as much bootom time as possible.

I went on a sort of photography liveaboard this year, but dont fancy that again.

I have been to Nuweiba a few times (with Alan James Photography) but that reef is looking a bit tired.

What i am after is a bit of house reef diving/day boat diving - but not regimented etc.

Specific UW Photography Workshops are great (done 4) but out of my price range at the moment.

Jordan looks good - but any other ideas would be greatly appreciatted.

I have booked myself a trip in July on a " Through The Lens" UW Photo Trip on MY Blue Fin, the itenirary is quite varied and includes The Brothers Islands and Northern Red Sea Dive Sites which include wrecks, reefs and shallower dives etc - all being weather dependant. There is also evening workshops using photoshop etc. The guides are Dray and Karin VanBeeck who seem to have a very good reputation.

I have been on 3 UW Phototrips all with Alan James (2 in Nuweiba shore based the other in Sardinia using day boats) i have always got a lot out these trips and found them to an excellent way of progressing and picking new idea's, most of all it nice to dive with like minded people. Its also my first liveaboard trip as well.

I did look at the Martin Edge Photo Trip with Tony Backhurst but this seemed very expensive especially as you expected to do a one day workshop with Martin prior to travel.

If anyone has any feed back it would be greatly apprecaitted.

Blue O Two Red Sea Liveaboard Through The Lens Trip

I am going on a Blue O Two Red Sea Liveaboard Through The Lens Trip with Dray & Karin Vanbeeck in July, i have been on 3 UW Photography Works Shops before (2 in Nuweiba Shore Based 1 in Sardinia Day Boat all with Alan James) and have found them to be very good.

Can anyone give me any feed back if they have been on these trips, never done a liveaboard before so really looking forward to it. Really looking to forward to diving and taking pictures with a group of likeminded people.

I look at the Tony Backhurst/Martin Edge trip but found it to be very expensive especially if you factor having to do a seperate 1 day course.
