First photo dive with almost complete G10 setup

My cousin who works at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru took me along for two dives this morning :guiness:

Was a great chance to test out my kit. The arms and strobe really made a HUGE difference. I think I can finally start taking some worth while UW stuff.

Canon G10 in OEM housing, Sea & Sea YS-27 DX strobe and this small diopter I found lying around. I just held the thing infront of the port. All I need now is that new subsee and I should be good to go ;). Images uncropped.

How's the diving like in Tasmania?

I'm probably going to be doing my BSc in Marine Science at University of Tasmania next year. Whenever I tell someone about it, the first thing they say is something along the lines of "it's bloody cold down there!".

I suppose the only way to dive in such cold waters is using dry suits? I'm from the Maldives and I hate wearing even the thinnest of wetsuits. Does the marine life make up for the cold?

Would really like to hear from people who have dived there! :clapping:

Bright yellow slug on net attached to FAD

We saw this only on one FAD. Which was also the only one that happened to have this kind of net.

Sorry for the blown highlights but this was the only decent one I could get. Currents were strong and the net was billowing about.

Location I think was about 20km outside of Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives.

Favourite Dive Magazines?

So what mags do you guys like reading? Are there any ones with more of a focus on photography? I'm thinking about subscribing but am a bit confused by the shear amount of choices coupled with not having read many hehe. From what I've seen so far DIVE magazine (UK) seems pretty good.

Also are there any "must read" UW photography books? Technique, ID, photo showcase or otherwise.
