Ha! Glad to see my backer asking questions about the housing. When are you going to buy the camera for me, EJ?
well... I might get housing first. Dry housing will motivate me to buy camera. ![]()
#325694 Macro Video Question

Do you think it would be possible to buy 2 x Focus, dislocate the joints, and make a double-length legs? (I did this with my SLR-Zoom)
Would the Focus be rigid enough for that, or better go with something like Xit 404 or DIY legs using strobe arms?
I didn't try that but might be possible but I think you need something like "Loc-Line Assembly tool".
Anyway for video rig, I recommend Xit 404 twist clamp leg, ultralight tripod leg or strobe arm (if you don't need extendable).

I don't know about marine grade, but the Gorillapod Focus has "machined aluminium sockets" in its legs. And it costs twice as much as the all-plastic Gorillapod SLR-Zoom.
(Just to recap, I bought a load of Gorillapod SLR-Zoom a few years ago and modified it to use as light arms as well as tripod legs. They have all gone floppy and now more joints are superglued up than aren't. It sounds like others haven't had the same problem.)
I use both (SLR-Zoom x 2, Focus x 3ea) and same problem with SLR-Zoom but Focus still doing fine.
btw, Focus is negative and SLR-Zoom is slightly positive.

Note to future DP4 monitor buyer (Canon user):
I know somebody already mention this on article but...
If you want use DP4 with Canon 7D or 5DMK2/3, ask them (SmallHD) you want modded DP4 for 7D.
When I just purchased monitor last Feb, my 7D often felt to Error 80 (locks up the camera. MUST pull battery to reset.) if I forgot to turn on camera first then monitor.
And other problem, camera's lcd is always off when dp4 connected via hdmi cable(If dp4's battery going out then you're blind).
It happend few times underwater and I forced back to the boat when I was in Ambon/Lembeh last Mar.
After trip, I sent it back to SmallHD and they quickly send me "modded DP4 for 7D"(it's doesn't have problem and works even better w/ 5dmk3 then standard version).
