Thumbnails and bit rates

22 February 2015 - 05:27 PM

I'm shooting video with a Panasonic GH4 and using VLC media player to view it.

The GH4 has four recording formats (AVCHD, MP4, MP4(LPCM) and MOV), and within these formats there is a total of 22 different levels of video quality.

What I've found is that for any video file shot at a bit rate of 100Mbps, VLC provides no thumbnail, just the orange and white icon.  Yet for any other bit rate, be it higher or lower than 100Mbps, VLC provides a thumbnail.  Unfortunately all the 4K stuff has a bit rate of 100Mbps, so no thumbnails.

Anyone else having this problem and know a possible solution?
