Don't forget the Sigma 15mm.
Yep it doesn't have the coverage of the 10.5mm but it's cheaper if that's a concern.

If you are truly just starting diving and want to try uw photography...

Maybe give ebay a shot on a Oly/Sony with housing.  I know it's no DSLR with strobes, but you could prob get the gear for less than the rental fees you are looking at.  Give you a chance to try out uw photography without ALL the hassels of a full rig.

Just tie it off to your BC with a long enough leash that if you get excited and need both hands, just let go of it and it floats up and out of your way.
