In Topic: DS-160 Strobes

If you have an extra charger, bring it! and don't plug it in with the other charger. I fried my laptop charger, my storage charger and my ikelite charger when on the Andaman Nicobar Islands of India. The power generator decided suddenly to give 300+ volts before it crapped out completely.

There was nobody else with ikelite strobes when I needed them!

In Topic: Selective lighting

I think the 'creative' lighting was made in Photoshop by burning out the dark parts into the extreme.

Nothing wrong with that, just don't send it into any National Geographic or photojournalism contests/publications or they will crusify you (rightfully) for changing the truth and meaning of the image. Anyway for illustrative and creative purposes this does not count.

He is a good photographer and the shots are great. I believe they would still be good without all the burning.

In Topic: Manaul with DS160 on Ikelite

14 March 2010 - 05:29 AM

I was actually trying out my DS 125 on an ikelite D200 and to my surprise noticed the same thing.... on 1/1 power setting the flash is not captured, although it gives a good flash. at 1/2 power and other settings no problem at all.

I am still in the dark of why this is happening

Thanks for the response,
it looks like I will go for the tokina 10-17!

I tried to attach some pix in our archive but that did not work due to limitations in the BB coding...
so here a link to our underwater photography galleries:

In Topic: Tokina 10-17+1.4 tele vs. Sigma 17-70mm???

Great shots Gudge!

I am new on the Forum and now contemplating between the tokina 10-17mm and the Tamron SP AF 10-24mm F3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical

I hear good stories about the 10-17 underwater and that it is crap above the waterline. It is also very fisheye on land.
Now the tamron 10-24 keeps all the lines straight and has had a good review on http://www.dpreview....24_3p5-5p6_n15/
but that means nothing underwater.

Does anyone have experiece with the Tamron SP AF 10-24mm???

looking forward to your thoughts

Cheers,
