Backscatter is pretty fast at getting out parts, they have an East Coast store and West Coast store.

In Topic: Question on strobe power and Syncing with Camera D7100 YS 250 Strobes

There must be a setting not set quite right. One simple test, put the camera in the housing, hook up the sync cable and with the strobe pointed at the lens of your camera you should be able to tell. Set correctly you should get a completely blown out image, if not there is a sync issue. Either some setting on the strobe not quite right or in the camera. I have not had the 250's but but have had the 110's and now the D1's have had these problems and it's usually a setting on the strobe got switched inadvertently.

It's not the pilot light that causes the backscatter. If you have the strobe aimed where the pilot light will work as a focus light that will cause backscatter.

I just love my YS-D1'2. There was a learning curve though, I wasn't use to that much power compared to my YS-110's.

Yes I use the 100 defuser all the time. i think it creates softer light.

no I do not use the pilot light, with your strobe pointed right at your subject is just begging for backscatter. So useless except as a back up light on a night dive.

I shoot Nikon, so no advise with your camera

I change batteries daily, usually 4 dives a day. Not sure how many shots that would be. I use Eneloop rechareables.

I've had mine for 3 years and dive 125-150 dives a year. No troubles yet.
