In Topic: Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18 mm: Background too dark

01 October 2014 - 06:00 PM

I've seen a lot of pictures on the internet even taken at 1/160 sec having a lot brighter backgrounds than my pictures. That's why I started this topic.

Philip there are quite a few factors other than camera/strobe settings that will affect how much ambient light there is to capture.  Some of these factors: depth (you seem to be diving quite deep), amount of sunshine above (is the sky clear?), position of the sun, direction you're shooting relative to the sun, etc.  This is how someone is getting brighter backgrounds with a faster shutter.  Try shooting up and into the sun (don't necessarily need to frame the sun in your shot).

Hope this help.

Tim - how'd you go about softening the background?

Love the soft color composition in the first image.  Captivating.

Congrats on the new kit.

In Topic: 105 Macro Port question

07 August 2014 - 06:42 AM

That’s good to hear.  It saves a little money but also relieves me of having to carry around another port halfway around the world.  My packing space (the critical carryon) is crazy limited and kinda at capacity as it stands.

Nauticam does make the manual focus gear for the 105 which is universal and works with both ports (already included in my final tab… :o )

Thanks for your help! :yahoo:

When you say the focus gear for the 105mm works with both ports do you mean it will also work to focus the 60mm within the 60mm port OR do you mean the 105mm focus gear works to focus the 105mm in both the Macro Port 87mm and Macro Port 60mm + extension?
