Paypal preferred - I'll eat the fees.

Is there a rule of thumb for distance from subject to strobe arm spread?

25 October 2012 - 01:39 PM

After a few years of shooting with a single strobe I finally broke down and picked up a second D2000 to go with my EPL2 and Oly housing. Using ULCS tray, arms, clamps I've got two 5" arms on both sides. I've got a zen port and shoot using either a Panny 7-14 or the 14-42 oly kit lens. My strobes are D2000's.

Is there a rule of thumb for how far to spread the strobe arms based on how far from your subject you are? e.g. if you're 5' from your subject you want to have your arms 10" extended on each side or is it merely a function of the angle of coverage of your strobe and playing with arm extension until you get the light coverage you want?

Thx!

WTB - ULCS 5" or 8" arms - two clamps (AC-CS or AC-CSF) and AD-IN Adapter

Just picked up a second strobe and need to upgrade my arms as well.

Looking for

2 - ULCS dual ball end DB-05 or DB-08

2 - AC-CS or AC-CSF clamps

1 - AD-IN ULCS Adapter for Inon strobes

I've also got a Type 4 fiber cable and both my strobes are earlier type 3 (with the 15mm diameter adapter).  Looking to trade with someone or get hold of the larger 15mm screw on cup so I can make the Type 4 into a Type 3.

message me here or btreinen@charter.net

single vs dual strobes - move to dual worth it?

01 August 2012 - 04:31 PM

Hi.

Been shooting with a single D2000 Inon strobe for a few years now. Have moved from SP350 Oly to EPL-2 w/ zen WA port, panny 7-14 lens, kit lens, flat port, wet macro lens. Also have Sola 600 focus light.

I've been contemplating moving to dual strobes and picking up either a pair of Z240 or picking up a 2nd D2000. Main reason is that I've been frustrated by strobe positioning troubles, shadows and backscatter and simply the never ending quest for better quality photos.

So the question is - are two strobes worth the extra "bulk" underwater and while traveling for the added quality?

Thanks!

WTB - Inon D2000 or Z240 strobe

Title says it all. Looking for a 2nd D2000 to pair with my existing one. Z240 would be suitable as well. PM me here.

Thanks!
