magic filter or strobe

18 December 2011 - 09:36 PM

Hoping to get some advice.
Going on a cruise at end of Feb. to Naussau and plan on doing the stuart cove shark dive. Do I pack the strobe or just go with magic filter.
Is the water clear and the abient light at depth good during the feeding? Do i push the iso with the filter?? Using the D7000 with minidome
and 10-17mm tokina is the plan unless someone has better suggestions.
Some advice from the people who have done this dive would be greatly appreaciated.

By the way anyone know what thickness wetsuit for that time of year???

Tips and tricks for settings D7000????

13 May 2011 - 08:04 PM

Just got my nauticam housing for D7000.  I am going to just shoot macro for now to start.
Have not decided yet on strobe.  What tips do you guys have for using the camera and housing underwater.  What focus mode? What shortcuts?? What user defined settings ??  Please shorten my learning curve by learning from your trial and error.

Thanks
Dennis

Olympus E-620 underwater setup

20 February 2011 - 09:42 AM

Going to all new Nikon setup so Olympus stuff has to go.  All equipment puchased back in November and used one week in Bonaire in December.
Would like to sell as complete setup for now. Will entertain parting out in a few weeks.  If priced out from Optical Ocean website now everything would cost you $6600 dollars.  Sale price for whole setup $ 5,200 shipped to anywhere in North America.  It includes.

E-620 with kit lens of 14-41mm
(3) transend 400X 16GB compact flash cards, (1) Scan disk 8 GB compact flash card, (4) 2GB XD M+ cards
(4) extra BLS1 MaximalPower 1800mAh batterys for camera
PT-E-06  Olympus underwater housing
Sea & Sea RDX tray with handles and quick release base
Olympus 50mm 2.8f Macro lens
Olympus 14-54mm II  2.8-3.8f lens
Olympus 1.4 Teleconvertor
Athena 100mm dome port with 9-18mm zoom gear
Athena EXT 30 ring ( attached to dome port to allow use of 14-54mm II 2.8-3.8f lens)
Per-E01 port extention ( for use of 1.4x Teleconvertor)
11-22 zoom gear ( fits 14-54mmII lens)
(2) UFL-2 Olympus strobes ( You can remote control strobe settings thru camera)
(2) strobe diffusers
(2) Fiber Optic camera - strobe sych cords L type
Hotshoe ball mount ( used for focus light)
Extra front and back housing O-rings

I used Macro lens with dome port with good success,  but a flat macro port would be a recomended add on to buyer.
Buy a 9-18mm wide angle lens and you have the dome port and zoom gear already to fit.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any additional info or payment options.
I will also have a point and shoot on sale in another thread for your wife or girlfriend.

Thank you
Dennis
