Lightroom clone tool help

19 February 2014 - 02:34 PM

I used to have two circles on the clone tool in LR, one where the spot to be covered is and one where the new bit of image to be copied over is coming from.

Sadly, now I just have the destination circle. What have I done to mess this up?!

Thanks

Bob

Time Lapse Software

24 January 2014 - 02:58 PM

I have been having a play with using timelapse using stills from a gopro. So far I have stiched them together in Picasa as it is rough, ready and works.

I would like to take it further and would appreciate and recommendations for the best software to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again

Stitching images

28 October 2013 - 02:07 PM

Quick question about stitching images together.

What is the best software to create a panorama from a number of images? I have tried it in PS CS6 to good effect but wondered if there are any other options out there that are worth a try? An idea of the range of option would be handy so I could head down a google search and have a shot myself.

Any to add complexity.. how about with video? What is the best software to stitch video footage to make a long still image?

I saw someone once with an image stitching software that allowed all the images to be roughly laid out and then datum points put in each image that the software would then align. I guess it would have a slightly heavier archeological rigour but in many ways, that would help. ANy ideas what that would be?

here is one of my practice surface shots that is a composite of about 30 images. Was chuffed with the result, especially for the first shot. However, I would like to make a composite of a wreck site looking down to show the whole. Any guidance from the group would be really welcome.

Thanks loads, keep up the good work!

Strobe "Shutter speed"

06 October 2013 - 11:43 AM

I am having problems understanding this picture of the tentacles of a common urchin. Now, its not the best picture in the world so I'm not looking for critique but rather for help with the technicalities.

1376479_10151952099139260_428214526_n.jp

It is taken on a D200 and 60mm with a 36(?I think)mm extension tube. It is a 1 sec exposure at f32 at 100iso.

I shot f32 to get dof. I shot 100 to get best quality. I shot 1 sec to get green background.

The strobe (both) was a subtronic with dial set to 4 (1/4?) and as the tentacles were moving, it has done quite a good job of "freezing the action" and giving me sharp tentacles (things that are in focus are not blurred, ya catcha ma drift?)

My understaning is that one can use strobes as a shutter to freeze action: what are the numbers here? ie at full splat, how long is the light lit in shutter speed terms? is there an equivalency or is it just super fast? How far can you go in freezing stuff that is really small? What use is this idea in a wider context?

I guess I am just asking for help with the situation: if anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be chuffed to bits.

Many thanks

Bob
