I-photo on the Mac is free. Picasa is free on the PC side. There are tons of others. Mac or Windows?

This is really an interesting discussion topic!
It reminded me of the time when I was researching in the web to decide which camera and gear I would buy before I bought my Nikon D7000.
I saw it being defined as the right camera for the "ambitious amateur" - this was a good combination for my ego

thanks for your reply! I have started a website and I am structuring it - not ready yet - I will update this post as soon as there are some pictures in it!
I am trying to organize my pictures and at the same time I am taking more and more pictures - it is like a never ending story - I need to chose the right time to say "ok I am ready to publish my website"
