In Topic: Sony DSC-TX5 ... What/how to upgrade

28 March 2012 - 08:39 AM

Wow thank you for some great information there!

Yea I saw the strobes for the first time at the BTS trade-show, an they are bigger then I expected, but never considered in conjunction with my small camera lol. As for beginner budget, I more meant that I don't need "professional" metal housings for example Essentially the best that a hobbyist would want, just less then a professional would want. I try to minimize stepping stones where possible.

So to cover lights, I would agree the ds51 did seem better sized when I saw it, you also mentioned strobes by inon, or sea and sea, any recommendations for specific model(s)?

and for the Oly cameras / housings, thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know they used such a large sensor. Now are any of the ikelite/inon/sea and sea strobes easily compatible with it, specifically would any be able to do TTL or would they have to be manual?

Thanks again for your help, it allows me to make a much better educated decision on what to do!

In Topic: Newbie Must Read: What new system did you just buy?

26 March 2012 - 08:33 PM

Hello Everyone,
Just got back from Beneath the Sea tradeshow, and found out about this forum while attending an AMAZING workshop given by Michel Gilbert. I'm very new to photography UW, and want to start working up to a better system... Currently using a Sony DSC-TX5 inside a Sony MPK-THJ housing. The thought being that if the camera inside the case is also waterproof, then if/when it floods, the camera would be "Safer". After seeing all the goodies at BTS, I want to buy everything lol, however my wallet tends to disagree with me on that... So I'm looking to begin to upgrade (piece by piece if possible), so I'll be looking for some help in a later post (just replying here so I'll be able to post lol)

Take Care!
