I'll have to wait and see what Olympus say, but I can't see that the gears were to blame.

 

I'll update as soon as I hear anything.

I've discovered the downside of just having the single 12-50mm lens and port. On my recent trip to the Red Sea I set up my kit on the first night, test shots done and no problems.

 

Come the next morning I turn the camera on and get a "Check the status of your lens" error message. Taking the camera out of the housing I can hear a grinding noise from the inside of the lens.

So it's back to Olympus to see if they will fix under warranty. Gutted though to lose the chance to use my kit!

 

Although, if I had been using the camera I might have missed the Whale Shark that I saw at the jetty on Daedalus reef...

Was there ever a solution found for this issue? The port cover on the 12-50 port only stays on when the port is in the bag.planning on usin an inon neoprene bag to cover the port getting in and out of the water.

I thought this topic deserved a bit of a bump up the forum, so a quick question!

 

On my flash settings am I right in thinking there would be some benefit to dropping the camera's manual setting down from full when using an external strobe to optimise battery life? What settings are people using?

 

I'm off to the Red Sea next week for my first real outing with the new setup, I can't wait. I did have a minor panic last night when the camera flash wouldn't fire, but then I remembered to flip it up!   Spending more time this week on getting used to using the camera above water!
