Topics I've Started

20 December 2013 - 03:24 AM

Hi Guys,

I currently have an Olympus EPM1 and I am looking to upgrade to either an EM1 or a DSLR.

Obviously it would be cheaper for me to move to the EM1, but I am still yet to hear from anyone that has used this camera underwater and I am wondering if I would be better off just moving to something like a Nikon d7100. The EM1 camera with the 12-40 is £2000 at the moment, I could buy a d7100 a tokina 10-17(and sell my 4/3 lenses) and a nikon 60mm macro for that! I know the housing would then be more but I am wondering in the long run if this would be considered a better option?

The smaller size of the Em1 is a plus as I am doing more travelling, but at the end of the day the most important thing is image quality.

I know a lot of this is personal choice but I am still learning and don't want to get something I may later regret.

Any ideas or views on choice of cameras would be good.

Thank you

Help needed with Olympus EPM1

04 June 2013 - 09:04 AM

Please can someone help me!

I have just got an Olympus 60mm lens to start taking some macro pictures and I am trying to use manual settings rather than auto. I am stuck when it comes to moving the shutter speed above 160 when the flash is on. I have tried to look at the instructions but they don't mention anything.

Is it a problem with this sort of camera or am I doing something wrong?

Humpback Whales

30 April 2013 - 12:01 PM

I am going to Australia in 2014 and would like to swim and photograph Humpback Whales on my way home, I have looked on the internet and two places seem to offer what I am looking for..... Tonga and Silver Banks of the Dominican Republic. Does anyone have any experiences of either of these places and also any good company that offers trips to do this??

Any imput would be fantastic.

Thank you :pardon:

Hi guys,

Has anyone got any advice on diving the Azores?  I am finding it hard to get any advice on where would be the best place to go and advice on dive centers. Is it possible to do any trips that combine different areas? I would like to see Blue Sharks and other pelagics. Any advice welcome.

Bahamas Tiger and Great hammerhead trip.

02 April 2013 - 11:27 PM

I have just booked a trip to the Bahamas with Jim Abernethy, I am after some advice on if it is shallow enough at Tiger beach to take pictures with a red filter rather than strobes??? I am thinking about the recycle time of the strobes as it would be nice to have the option to take pictures quickly.

Any advice on this topic or advice and tips for this trip in general would be fantastic. :nea:

Thank you
