GH4 vs RX100 mk IV for 4k video

22 November 2015 - 02:49 PM

Looking at the test results of the RX100 mk IV, (DXO, Dpreview) the tiny 1" sensor system seems really impressive, the iso-performance

matches the m43 sensor while in video the sony is clearly superior.

Is there any aspect where the GH4 worth ~2x the investment? Alright, I won't be able to shoot 10+min 4k with the RX, because it overheats.

Also I won't be able to use a true fisheye, I have to live with the ~120° provided by the WWL-1. Anything apart from that?

Seychelles outer islands (Amirantes, Aldabra, Farquhar, Alphonse)

18 November 2015 - 06:52 AM

Has anyone dived the outer coral islands of the Seychelles? We had a family holiday on the granite islands with some great diving

incl., I wonder how the atolls of the south look like.

I was unable to find recent liveaboard info, just a dive center on Alphonse. Are there any boats visiting the area?

Wide/fisheye lens and housing for the RX100 mk IV?

16 November 2015 - 03:22 PM

I am on the hunt for a 4k video solution and stranded at the RX100 mk IV. Decent IQ, modest pricing, cheap housings.

First of: I am eying the Fantasea frx100 housing(s), does it have any significant drawback compared to Ikelite?

Speaking of Fantasea, does the mk IV camera fit in the mk III housing? Fantasea offers a retrofitting service, can it be done at home?

As for optics, I want the best. Does the WWL-1 have any serious (and somewhat lighter...) competitors in the wet wide lens department?

Adapting the Sea & Sea 240 dome on 3rd party housings?

11 November 2015 - 10:11 AM

The Sea & Sea 240 seems to be an affordable big dome, I haven't encountered any negative reviews of. However, I don't think I'll have a Sea & Sea housing in the near future.

Seacam, Ikelite, Subal (type3) and Nauticam are the most probable candidates. Are there port adapters available for these housings?

I recall there is a port adapter for Nauticam, how is the situation with the others?

Experience with Subawider III?

09 November 2015 - 07:12 AM

Has anyone used the Subawider III corrector as an adapted wet lens on film/FF cameras?

Apparently its sibling, the Subawider II provides great results on the AW-1.
