About Me
Dental Technician and originally from Switzerland, I traveled through many parts of Europe in my teenage years. I always had the urge to see more of the world and eventually went on a trip which led me to Indonesia and then to Thailand in the late 90ies.
It was then, while diving in Komodo that diving became my passion and where I realized that diving was exactly what I wanted to do from then onward I then moved on to Thailand where I met my wife Kay while working as a dive guide on live-aboard and have been stuck in Southeast Asia ever since. We have since then been Cruise Directors on high end live-aboard vessels cruising all over Southeast Asia, and have formed an excellent team with a very good reputation.
I not only developed a passion for diving but I was lucky to have been around several famous photo pros and eventually took up underwater photography in 2003 (with an Olympus C-5060 Wide Zoom, wet lenses, handmade lenses and Inon D-2000 strobes) and got completely hooked with it.
In 2006 however, I looked for a new challenge and took over the position as office manager in Thailand for one of Europe’s biggest dive outfits. However, being a true dive addict, I was never capable of dealing with a dry environment surrounded by walls for more than 6 months at a time and always spent Thailand’s off season as Cruise Director on live-aboard vessels in Indonesia.
Although the diving in Thailand, Burma and Malaysia is great, it is without a doubt for Indonesia’s huge richness and diversity that I have the greatest fondness.
We have moved to Indonesia for good in August 2011 and have actively been involved in the entire finishing of "SMY WAOW" until its completion in April 2012. We are both living on the boat pretty much all year around and still have this great passion for diving and underwater photography!
