Nauticam NA-EM5 housing shutter lever 'sticky'

29 December 2013 - 01:12 AM

Hi,

My Nauticam NA-EM5 housing's shutter lever doesn't return to it's original position after pressed sometimes.  This more frequently happens when I depress the lever partially (half way to focus).  Inside the housing I've noticed the spring loaded lever that pushes on the camera's shutter button doesn't move smoothly but the external shutter lever is smooth.  Anyone else have this problem?  I was thinking about putting some silicon liquid on the internal lever.  Any recommended silicon that's safe for housing?

I take good care of my housing (rinse, soak after day's diving).

Thanks

Jason

Olympus OM-D E-M5 freezing/crashing?

15 June 2013 - 02:48 AM

Hi,

I just got a Olympus OM-D E-M5 with a Nauticam housing, Panasonic 8mm fisheye, Olympus 60mm macro lens.  Firmware body 1.6.

My buttons/settings are configured same as:

http://wetpixel.com/...showtopic=48625

I've only dived with this setup about 10 times and 2 times my camera stopped working underwater.  I shoot in Manual Mode. When the camera stops working, it doesn't respond to any button pushes except the LV button (changes from EVF to Monitor).  Main dial and Sub-dial still changes Aperture and Shutter.  Shutter release does nothing and I can't even turn off the camera.  Camera EVF/Monitor stays on until camera runs out of battery; it doesn't fall asleep.  Camera displays live image.  The flash (lightning bolt) and focus confirmation (green dot) icons in the EVF/Monitor are stuck on.  When I remove the battery and put it back in the camera works again.  Anyone else have this problem?

No floods or leaks and my depth was around 30m deep.  I notice this happening usually when I focus then try to take a picture.  This problem has happened using both the Panasonic 8mm fisheye and Olympus 60mm macro lenses.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

Experiences with Olympus e-pl5? Versus OM-D EM-5?

31 January 2013 - 10:44 AM

It's interesting I can't find any info/experiences of people using the new Olympus E-PL5; seems like it would be a great camera to use underwater. I was wondering how people feel about the ease of operating it (especially in manual mode, adjusting aperture, shutter, iso, macro mode, focusing, etc).

Right now I am looking into updating my G10 rig but don't have tons of money to spend. The Olympus E-PL5 seems perfect for my budget though everyone is talking about the EM-5. Is that really worth the extra expenses? Over my G10 setup, I'm interested in improved image quality, increased creative flexibility (with lenses, fish eye, etc), and a system that I can re-use as much as possible for the upgrade after. I feel somewhat creatively restricted with my G10 setup.

The Olympus OM-D EM5 with a 12-50mm lens, macro port, Nauticam housing seems like a great system but is way out of my initial budget. Though, if it's a huge level above and beyond an E-PL5 with 10 bar housing (?), and lenses then I can stretch the budget (by working more!).

My current rig setup is as follows.
Canon G10 camera
Canon underwater housing
Fiber optic strobe cables
2x Sea and Sea YS-110a strobes
Sea and Sea arms and compact tray
2x Inon UCL-165M67

Help! I can't decide what to do.

Thanks for any information!
