29 January 2015 - 10:59 AM

Update:  I'm back in the US now and I just opened the package containing the new Sola 4000 battery that I mentioned buying in my original post.  It turns out that somehow my order was placed for 2 new batteries instead of 1 (I thought it was a little expensive when I saw it on my credit card statement).  So now BOTH Sola 4000's have brand new batteries.  The two batteries that were in the Solas are now spares.  One of them has only about 70 dives on it and the other had plenty of use but was still holding a good charge.

It's about 3.5 lbs (1.5Kg).  I used a couple small floats on my ultralight arms to compensate.

In Topic: For Sale: Amphibico Rouge housing system for RED

01 November 2014 - 07:19 PM

Just wanted to make a correction.  To receive the $3000 discount on a Scarlet upgrade to the Dragon sensor, the deadline is December 1, NOT December 31 as I indicated in my last update.

In Topic: For Sale: Amphibico Rouge housing system for RED

New info regarding my Amphibico Rouge underwater housing system for RED cameras:

Several of the people who contacted me with some interest in shooting UW with a RED had only experience with shooting traditional video cameras in housings.  There are quite a few differences when shooting with a RED.  Some things require a bit more work and thought on the shooter's part, but the improved image quality is well worth the effort.  I you are interested in shooting RED UW, I will include free training with the purchase of my Rouge system.  This can be tailored to your experience level to include not only care and maintenance of the system and UW techniques and best practices, but also the special end to end workflow issues that are unique to shooting RAW UW and getting the most out of it.  I will offer up to 5 days of one on one training with the purchase of the system.  Ideally, I would recommend doing the training here in Bali where I live because there is also access to good local diving (both WA and Macro).

On another note, I have had a couple of inquiries for a complete turnkey package including the camera and appropriate lenses.  I am willing to sell the housing along with my Scarlet with the necessary WA and macro lenses, batteries and LCD with the housing in a complete package.  There are two reasons this may be appealing, first, it's nearing the end of the year, so you can realize the tax write-off advantages, and second, my Scarlet is eligible for the Dragon upgrade, and that upgrade price is going up $3000 after the 31st of December.
