Diving vacation in Fiji

21 June 2013 - 07:00 AM

Hi every one !

Going for 13 dive days in Fiji in September for the first time.

I"m an experienced diving instructor and photographer.

What is "a must" and how to plan it without rushing from one place to another and to stay on a reasonable budget ?

Looked at the liveaboards and they seem very expensive.

Thank you !!!

Final personal conclusions on D800 + Sea&sea

02 January 2013 - 09:53 AM

After few dives with this rig :
Camera - it's not D700 but yet, it's a good camera that can work very nice underwater. The video is a great bonus.
Housing - love it. Works great !
Macro - Works wonderful. I work with the 56201 105 DX Macro Port Base + the 56221 NX Compact Macro Port and it works like a dream for the 105 VR, 105 VR + 1.4 TC and the 60 2.8 macro.
Super macro - Use the 105 + 1.4 kenko TC + X5 or X10 wet diopter.
Fisheye - Using the Sigma 15 Fisheye with the 6' compact dome is possible, but using it with the 240 Dome is much better, even without any ext' ring. (I haven't tried an 20' or 40' ext ing yet).
Wide zoom - Using the 16-35 with 60 mm' ext' rings with the 240 Dome port got much better resolts then without any ext'. Yet, it's not good enogh for me ( Sea&sea recommends using this lens with 2 X 40 mm' ext' rings!!!) and I gave up on this lens for now.
My personal decision - Sigma 15 2.8 + 60 2.8 macro + 105 2.8 macro.
Love to hear your personal thoughts.

Dome ports for D800+Sigma 15+Nikon 16-35

08 December 2012 - 08:45 AM

Just got my Sea&sea housing for the D800 - I love it !
I placed the Aquatica moisture alarm in it - works great !!!
Problem - The Sigma 15 fisheye with Sea&sea 6 compact dome with and without 20' ext' ring gives good sharpness in the center and horrible smeared edges !!!
The 10' Sea&sea (240) dome port with the Nikon 16-35 is even worst !!
Do any one here can recommend a better rig ?
Does the ones that use the Zen dome port (I think it was the 9') get better results ?
Do you have to croop any way

Moisture Alarm

29 August 2012 - 02:51 AM

Hi !!!

The Sea&Sea Mdx-D800 is coming without a moisture alarm !
I need an alarm with visual and vocal alert to fit in this housing.
Any recommendation ?
