(Looks like watermark off too - says 2009 and not 2012 - oh well - tomorrow)

I am a DAN member and have various other gear insured through them (scooters, can lights, etc). In those cases, I don't insure for full value, but simply for the cost that would be incurred by flooding (e.g. replacing electronics and batteries). This covers for potential actual losses without overpaying for insurance.

Really just curious how much it would cost to fix a flooded (in particular Aquatica D7000) housing.

The body, lens, and lights will be insured for replacement (i.e. full) value.

Thanks!

Probably worth calling Backscatter East or West to get a ballpark idea of the cost of a rebuild.
I think the deductible on the DAN insurance is something like $250 or 10% of the value of the housing so you may be not that much over the deductible for a rebuild. However- if the camera floods some point in the future after Nikon is 2 models ahead of your D7000 you may be repairing an obsolete housing unless you can find an out of stock D7000 on Ebay or elsewhere.
Something to consider.

I have an Aquatica housing (D7000) arriving shortly. I plan to insure the camera, lens, lights, and housing. Just curious how much people are insuring their housings for. Assuming the housing did leak/flood, what kind of financial drain would I be looking at just for the housing? I'd rather not over-insure it against flood (renter's insurance would cover theft).

Many thanks.

If you are a DAN member - highly recommended (I had a big DCS hit in August so I really know more than I want to know about their benefits) - they offer a good equipment insurance program - I would recommend insuring your equipment for retail cost because whatever you would collect (minus the deductible) in the event of a total loss may be what you are spending for a housing for the next model of camera and housing if you happen to flood after your D7000 camera has been replaced by the D8000 or whatever. Good luck.
