Knowing your in Rear syc Nauticam Housing

11 September 2017 - 01:50 AM

Hi I currently have a Nauticam D800 housing the problem i have come across is there is no way of knowing when you have change your flash to rear syc.

Before I had a Ikelite housing and you could see the top display and change it from front to rear curtain.

But now if I change it I have no idea if it's on Front, Red Eye or rear as it wont show in the viewfinder.

Does anyone know if there is something in the menu you can find out or is it just a matter of setting it before a dive and leaving it on?

Ikelite DS125 not firing at depth

23 August 2017 - 01:42 AM

Hi has anyone come across this issue I have two DS125 that work perfectly at the surface or in shallow water down to about 5 meters then one stops firing. If I turn it off and on it will fire once then stop.

I have swapped the batteries over and it has done it with the other strobe.

Any suggestions or is it a case of  getting a new battery. I just don't want to get new batteries to find it was the strobes!

Which lens set up to photograph Sharks?

21 July 2017 - 05:27 PM

Hi I am doing the Fiji shark dive at Beqa Lagoon at the end of the year just need some advise on which lens set up is best to photograph the sharks.

I have a Nikon D800 Nauticam Housing and I am currently using a Sigma 15mm fisheye.

I was reading in Alex Mustard's excellent book underwater masterclass where he says he uses either a Tokina 10-17mm set at 17mm or the 15mm fisheye with a 1.4 Teleconverter.

I have kept my 10-17 but don't have the lens gear for Nauticam but can just keep it set at 17mm, or I can use the 15mm with the teleconverter. I will be using a 230mm done port.

So as I may only get one dive with the sharks which set up will be the best and what does every one else use to photograph sharks?

Also with the 15mm and teleconverter will i need to attach a 10mm extension to the port.
