#383448 Basking Shark Scotland

Posted by kkfok on 22 April 2017 - 07:05 PM

I think you don't really need a zoom underwater, water should be very green and full of plankton at that time, you can't get a clear photo if they are not close enough.

Two cameras may be a good idea, there were quite a lot of seals for you to shoot in the boat and the scenery was gorgeous.

Will you also go to Lunga Island for birds such as puffins? The island was really lovely.

#380103 Bahama + Drone = Booo!!!!

Posted by kkfok on 01 January 2017 - 01:27 AM

Went there twice once in February and once in January. Saw lots of silvertips and dolphins in January, lots of hammerheads, manta rays and whale sharks in February.

Didn't get to Roca Partida in my February trip due to wind, a big disappointment for me as it is the prime area for humpback whales and calves. I heard that the sea can be very choppy in May, in return it is the time for sharks.

I informed the liveaboard that I want to shoot with a drone in advance, had to inform the captain everytime I shot with it. I was not allowed to shoot in Socorro Island due to the military base there.

#379285 Leafy Seadragons at Rapid bay jetty

Posted by kkfok on 01 December 2016 - 03:57 PM

Thanks. I guess the visibility was around 10m and the depth was 6-8m.

I found the MWB of LX100 much better than other Panasonic cameras such as GH2, but its low light performance is not really good, iso 800 is barely usable, particularly after MWB underwater.

#374198 Canon 1dx Mark II - Philippines

Great work, I always love Canon color underwater.

Dustin, did you experience any problem with MWB in shallow water, say 5 to 15 metres? I am using a 1DC underwater and it MWB very good at 20-30 metres, but it failed to WB at shallower water. I am using my hand as reference for MWB, thanks.

#367372 GH4 vs RX100 mk IV for 4k video

Posted by kkfok on 22 November 2015 - 06:35 PM

RX100 IV cannot set manual WB in movie mode and no AF-S in movie mode.

GH4 has 10bit 422 HDMI output but I doubt its ability to MWB underwater with ambient light.

#366822 Underwater housing for Samsung NX1

Glad to know that a housing for NX1 is finally available. I just worry about its ability to WB underwater as I shoot primarily video.

Is that not based on xbmc?

My first tests are depressing steaming my 1080p files 15 MBps results in massive stuttering on a panasonic set
Am picking up the sony on Sunday but I am a bit concerned about steaming 4K files on the LAN despite an AC1900 router that is super fast in wifi

Personally I am using this one and it plays my GH4 UHD clips from SD card flawlessly, I could also play my GH4 UHD files in my NAS through SAMBA, no stuttering.

If you like mimic octopus, Puri Jati is the place for you, saw more than 10 in my last dive there.

Actually I like Menjangan Island very much, Eel garden is very beautiful with lots of garden eels, some macros and some big stuff on the wall. There are many seafans in another site in Menjangan and it was the place I saw the most Pygmy seahorses.

September is the prime time for Mola Mola, they can be found around Nusa Penida and Padang Bai.

#346353 Cocos Island diving video - March 2014

Posted by kkfok on 16 April 2014 - 06:27 PM

It was a miserable week in Cocos Island, water was too warm and so sharks were rarely found. It was my first time to shoot raw video with 5D3, some of the color corrections maybe too aggressive. Anyway, hope you enjoy.
