Last week I as at the Little Cayman Beach Resort attending the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society meeting.

Of course the meeting was a mix of education and diving.  Enclosed are some pics shot with a D800 using a Nikkor 70-180 mm micro lens.

Overwhelmed external hard drive with D800 raw files

04 January 2013 - 12:34 PM

I mistakenly downloaded too many raw files on my LaCie 500 GB external hard drive and have exceeded its capacity with large D800 files (darn mega files). Now when I plug the hard drive into my MacBook Pro it does not show up on my desktop and I cannot access my raw files in lightroom. The external hard drive is formatted in Mac OS extended. I have tried disc utility to verify the disk, but cannot. I am thinking if I could just delete the last download the drive would be ok.

What should I do?????Posted Image

Cathy Pacific with carry-ons

04 December 2012 - 08:23 AM

I am flying Cathy Pacific in business class from JKF to HKG to DPS and back.

Will I be able to take two carry-ons? One backpack with lens and bodies and one roll-on with housing, strobes and chargers, each weighing 30+ pounds.

Their web site states the limit is 22 pounds for one carry-on, plus one small backpack.

Have fellow wetpixelers been dinged?

Should I just go with a backpack and ship the housing in the hole?

Thanks for your help,
Elmer

Thank you Uncle Subal.....My ND800 has finally arrived!!!!

20 September 2012 - 05:41 AM

Thank you Ryan, Richard, Kevin and the crew at Reef Photo.

After 9 months Uncle Subal came through, enclosed are pics.

I had the housing converted to port V3 from V4 since all my lens and ports are V3 compatible.
The port lock as a result is absent, but there are places where fittings can go. It would appear that a V3 lock can be added.
There is no iso lever (unlike the D4), just a button which is easier to get to than my ND2.
Otherwise the housing appears to have all the bells and whistles
Looking forward to playing with my new toy,

Elmer
