Focus Light Strength: How much is needed?

24 March 2013 - 04:48 AM

What is your experience?

How many Lumens are needed in a Focuslight?

It seems like a lot of you are using some sort of Sola and a lot the Sola 500.

To which level do you dim to?

I am interested to know the needed amount of Lumens for a Focus light!

Adding a review button

13 March 2013 - 01:49 PM

Hi,

I would be nice to separate the Reviews from the rest of the news.

As it is now it drowns in the rest of the news.

+10 Wetdiopter instead of SubSea?

13 March 2013 - 11:08 AM

Hi,

SubSee are out of Stock on their Diopters. I have a trip to Indonesia before they are in Stock again.

I would like to add a +10 for the trip. ( I have the +5. )

Aquatica does a +10 Diopter that looks good as well. Is the optical quality up to the same standard as the SubSeas?

Any experience with it?

Inon Z-240 Service inspection?

06 March 2013 - 11:59 AM

Hi,

What are you guys doing regarding service inspection of their INON Strobes?

I ended up talking to a INON Servicepartner about my INON Z-240:s.

He claimed that INON suggests to change all O-rings etc every 3 years & checking the electronics as well.

I have had mine for 6-7 years by now and I did not not even think ( or know) about servicing them!!!

The price for the service is about 15% of the price of a new Strobe.

The Electronics is not the end of the world, since I can "realize" that it does not work myself. I also have a redundant Strobe, so I would not get blocked.

The O-rings are a bit iffier issue, as always...

What are you guys doing with your INON Strobes???

Are you getting them Serviced every 3 years? Longer intervals?

Are you waiting until the electronics needs to get fixed and change the O-rings at the same time?

Neglecting it and it keeps working anyway :B):

Which Domeport for a Nikon D800?

15 November 2012 - 01:03 PM

I am about to take the step into the world of the D800. It will most likely end up a Subal or Nauticam Housing to it.
My main reasoning for these Manufacturers are the availability for service reasonably close.

Which Domeport should I choose to them? I plan to use a Nikon16-35mm Lense.
My question is more about optical Performance of the Domeport rather than scratches and imploding :-)

Nauticam:
According to their Lense Chart it should be OK with the Acrylic 8.5". They do a 9" as well and the ZEN 9" should also fit with the Port Locking.
Do the Glass ports justify the price difference, when it come to performance? Flaring and corner sharpness.
Is the ZEN 9" glass dome better than the Nauticam 9" glass dome?

Subal:
ZEN 9" glass dome or the Subal version?

So what are the pros and cons of these Domeports?
Does it really matter which one of the Glass Domeports that I choose?
Or is one better than the other?
