So trying to update my website and was hoping to be able to play videos at my site. Got the following message from the guy helping me.
"have found that we need libraries to convert video files to FLV
format. The required application FFMPEG is not installed on the server. We
need FFMPEG library to convert video files to FLV format. We request you to
please check with Bluehost regarding installing the libraries."
Called my server and they say this is true, they do not have a FFMPEG converter. Well I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio and it does not show FLV as a format to save or "Make Movie".
I really don't understand what they are looking for. Is there a way I can convert my Vegas Movie files to FLV. I had hoped to have them HD or at least of MPEG-2 quality.
All help or insights welcome.
Thanks
If you encode out a flv clip and put it on your server you do not need FFMPEG on the server? FFMPEG is a free open source encoder that can be used like my hdvundersea site to convert uploaded clips to a flv automatically.
All you have to do is encode out your flv, make a page in your HTML editor like Dreamweaver, import you flv into it and then load that up to your server and away it goes. Everyone has the flash player now days. Other ways is to use a flash video player that reads the input data from a XML file.
As for encoders for the PC, there are many to pick from and some are even free.
The Free Super@ encodes flv no problems even H.264.
Click on the swf - flv flash setting and once you start to encode it will ask you to swf or flv box to click and away it goes..
If you have (program) Macromedia FLASH 8 - encoder installed you may be able to encode straight form the timeline, I can here with my NLE.
On2 have a encoder as well that plugs into your NLE.
The latest flash 9 player can now play normal H.264 files..see my other post.
The free encoder I am using to make flash playable H.264 clips fly's....I'll post some more info on it once I have tested it abit more.
