I have a request in for some HDV shark footage licensed "All Rights, All Media, In Perpetuity." What are you guys charging for that? I've sold video for kiosks and other projects, but never for broadcast shows on cable.

of course, they could come back and say that HDV isn't going to cut it, but I'd like to quote something reasonable, first. smile.gif

Eric - you might want to consider doing an uprez to DVCPro HD on a small section of the content and see how it looks.

FYI - Robin Berg has shot HDV content underwater for broadcast and says it holds up very well - even from SONY HC7's.

Thanks, Cliff. They say they will accept HDV.

Any ideas on price per second? The "perpetual" thing makes me want to price high.

Got me on that one Eric - you might try contacting Robin - he's very knowledgeable and he might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Wish I could be more help.

All Rights, All Media, In Perpetuity....is it for just the one project or for all future projects as well?

If they want to keep using it for anything else later on then you will need to charge them high.

Hi Eric, Here are my footage rates. The structure is heavily influenced by how Getty is now charging since they went "rights ready" instead of "rights managed".

Really unique clips would go for a premium above these rates.

Nick - you use the $ sign for your rates - is this for USD?

Yes. It says USD at the top of the column. But maybe I should swap out $ for USD throughout the table. Thanks Cliff

By the way any feedback on my rates is more than welcome.

The more you charge, the more you get, the more stills snappers will want to change to video... Blood thirsty suckers.. "It for my art" PAH !!! money money money........ tongue.gif

I now give all my material away for free as I do this for the beauty of our oceans and so that people can marvel in its glory... Makes me sick when people make a living out of what the 'man up stairs' gave to use for nothing... specially these sods who dont really need the money...thats taking the real piss... Broadcasters dont have any budgets so im often told, the poor sods, so keep them in a job and give your footage away for nothing... You will feel better in the end... notworthy.gif
