OK, so now I'm learning toward the rebel set up for the price but have not left out the thought or the d300 or the oly dslr. Any thoughts, this decision is driving me crazy. Especially in this time of economic doom and gloom. thanks, Scott

Hi,
You can get a killer deal on a used RebelXT setup. Of you can go with a new XSi for a little bit more. There was recently a Sea and Sea housing on Ebay for the Rebel XT and from what I understand, you can also fit an XTi in there.
The list of lenses you can use w/ the Rebel is extensive, but a good start would be a Tokina 10-17 and a Sigma 50mm macro or Canon 60mm for a bit more.
Cheers

Scott,
I agree with James that a great lens to acquire would be the Tokina 10-17. It's available for both Canon and Nikon and it is a fabulous lens for Wide Angle photography. The image that won Best Wide Angle for me when we were at Wakatobi was shot with the Tokina 10-17.
I can't agree with James more about acquiring a used housing. They can be bought relatively inexpensively now, especially compared to the cost of buying a new housing. Have you looked at what new housings for the D300 are going for? Yikes! That rivals my total cost for my daughter's freshman year at college!! OK, OK, she is on a scholarship...but still you get the idea :-)

thanks guys, I've been looking at both the rebel and the d300 and am torn, do I spend the extra few thousand bucks or is it worth it and be happy with the rebel. Is it true that it's all about the lens??? Sometimes I think trip or camera, and it's easy to say trip. Scott
