For many years, Brazilian wildlife filmmaker and photographer Cristian Dimitrius has been traveling around the globe attempting to capture the beauty and curiosities of our natural world. He sometimes dives in the most extreme environments, including the Brazilian Pantanal, the Amazon or the channels of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. In his travels, Cristian has had the opportunity to document some of the amazing creatures that inhabit these harsh environments.
He tries to use natural light as much as possible during daytime in order to realistically portray how these environment really look. Over the years, Cristian had faced many challenges including low light situations, murky waters, high humidity, strong currents and the risk of getting bitten by caimans, crocodiles, piranhas, snakes or hippos. To reach the flooded forests and savannas he has traveled hours and sometimes days in very small boats carrying all his diving gear, his Canon 5D cameras, Nauticam housings, lights, strobes and sometimes even a compressor. He been bitten badly by mosquitoes and by vampire bats (twice!) in remote camps in the Amazon.
In his Full Frame gallery, he aims take you to the middle of the jungle, but not for a walk. He wants to show you a different kind of diving, where the subjects are sloths, spiders, caimans, crocodiles and even anacondas. Enjoy!
