Mauricio Handler’s Aquatica D100 Review
Wetpixel has posted a review of Aquatica's new D100 housing, written by Mauricio Handler.
A snippet from the review: "The first thing I noticed when I took an initial look at this fully functioning prototype was that it was very similar in look, size and feel to other Aquatica housings particularly the A100. The cast aluminum housings are anodized black and painted using a durable polyurethane powder paint with a clear top coat giving the housing a very stylized finish. Gates announces Sony F717 housing ...
Gates Underwater Products announces the availability of the Sony F717 Digital Still Housing.
The F717 is the sibling to the highly successful Gates F707 housing. Available in standard and pro versions, the F717 has several lighting options including NiteRider HID video lights or the Gates F1000ES dedicated flash unit, which is directly and actively controlled by the Sony DSC-F717 camera. Now with the F717, underwater photographers have a third option -- using any Nikonos-compatible underwater strobe unit. Owners of Nikonos-compatible strobes can connect them with the new F717 housing and receive flash synchronization from the Sony DSC-F717 camera.

Shark Photography Expedition, Bahamas
By popular demand from people I've been meeting here, I've been asked to link to the daily photos I've been posting on echeng.com. I will be joining the Dive Magazine folk from the UK next week aboard Jim Abernethy's Shearwater for a shark photography expedition in the Bahamas. Photos will be posted when I return, of course.

Sea & Sea DX-S2 Pro
Sea & Sea has just announced the DX-S2 Pro, an underwater housing for the Fuji S2 Pro digital SLR. It is very similar to their D100 housing, and it looks like only the controls on the back are different. There is an active discussion going on in the wetpixel forums about this housing. Light & Motion continues their innovation in underwater digital photography with the introduction of the Tetra 5050 for the 5 megapixel Olympus 5050 digital camera. The Tetra 5050 has all the proven features and reliability of previous models plus the addition of the newest ROC strobe control system. The new ROC system features a double flash exposure system that provides TTL type exposure control as well as 12 manual power settings on most TTL strobes. Sealux CD 100
Once again, Digideep has useful information about a newly announced housing. The CD 100 is a new Nikon D100 housing by German manufacturer Sealux. From Digideep's website: "Special features of the CD 100 are an optional "grand viewfinder" and a housing for Nikon's SB-80DX flash with an integrated pilot lamp. Interesting for everyone seeking a true TTL solution for the D100, which just skipped the Nikonos TTL protocol for the sake of many photographers who already owned Nikonos TTL compatible strobes."
